In the heart of the Dolomites, Chalet Franz Kraler – Club Moritzino expresses a clear and consistent vision: to create beauty while respecting the landscape, to inhabit the altitude with care, to shape a project that unites environmental ethics, aesthetics and cultural responsibility.

Every decision – from materials to architectural form, to the approach to hospitality – reflects a mindset grounded in awareness: enhancing without altering, innovating without forgetting.

Materials that speak the language of the mountains

Designed by BlueArch Studio in Bolzano and Milan, the Chalet unfolds over two levels, both partially underground, allowing it to discreetly adapt to the natural topography. The main structure, clad in dark larch, echoes the stratification of alpine rock: vertical cuts give rhythm and become natural light openings. The project embraces subtraction rather than addition, seeking integration into the Dolomites without dominance.

Reclaimed wood, locally quarried dolomite stone, hand-forged iron: each material was chosen for its aesthetic value, durability, and ability to harmonize with the surrounding environment. Material is central – authentic, alive, rooted in the landscape that welcomes it.

Inside and out, the architecture builds continuity: wide glass surfaces reflect the Tofane peaks and dissolve boundaries, light filters in naturally, and space opens in sync with the land. The Chalet blends into the mountain, interpreting it with respect.

Subtle innovation and concrete sustainability

Sustainability here goes beyond aesthetics. It’s a structural, technical and design commitment. The use of low-impact materials, mindful reuse, and smart resource management form the core of the building.

Among the innovative solutions, sensory luminescent cement stands out – it absorbs sunlight during the day and emits it at dusk, enhancing visual comfort and contributing to energy savings. Cast glass walls by SICIS introduce a tactile and artistic dimension, while furnishings, carefully selected, highlight natural textures, neutral tones and essential geometries, shaping a refined and timeless aesthetic.

It’s far more than a style choice: it’s a way of living the mountains responsibly, preserving the beauty of the place through tangible, lasting solutions.

Territory and international vision: One cultural direction

Chalet Franz Kraler – Club Moritzino was born from the ambition to merge Cortina’s identity with a cultural vision open to the world. The aim is not only to welcome an international audience, but also to create a place that gives back to the territory through curated, memorable shared experiences.

Fashion, art, music, design and gastronomy become instruments of connection. The Chalet acts as a cultural platform, where maisons, artists, chefs and creatives bring new languages into dialogue with the Dolomites. Each project, event or collaboration weaves together aesthetics and content, contemporaneity and local roots.

In this way, Cortina asserts itself as an inspiring destination – a vibrant context, a meeting point between worlds, visions and people united by the same sensitivity to beauty, excellence and respect for place.

Preserve, enhance, tell a story

This project goes beyond simply adding a new building to the Dolomite landscape. It was born to preserve tradition and enrich the territory – through architectural and cultural language that opens up new perspectives without altering Cortina’s identity.

Every choice – from materials to hospitality, cultural programming to design – aims to generate lasting value. A measured balance between construction and nature, between experience and memory. Here, sustainability is a concrete commitment, design is conscious vision, and culture is renewed through dialogue with the landscape.
